How a Consultation Works

Three simple steps from your first message to treatment.

1

Request a Visit

Complete the secure Ayah Health intake chat and describe your symptoms or request.

2

Our Doctor Reviews

Dr. Akram personally reviews your intake. If virtual care is appropriate, you receive a secure PushHealth invitation to verify your information and continue.

3

Treatment or Referral

After physician review, an appropriate prescription, lab order, or care plan may be offered for the $55 flat fee. If the concern is not suitable for telehealth, you are directed to the appropriate level of care and owe nothing.

What We Can Treat

Common non-emergent medical needs suited for remote evaluation, for patients ages 2 and up located in Texas or Florida.

Pediatric & Adult Care

Patients age 2 and older, of any age from toddlers to adults. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must be present and provide consent during the visit.

Non-Controlled Prescription Refills

Blood pressure, cholesterol (statins), thyroid (levothyroxine), diabetes (metformin and other non-insulin oral agents), asthma/COPD maintenance inhalers, acid reflux (GERD), and non-controlled antidepressant/anxiety refills (SSRIs/SNRIs).

Minor Acute Illnesses

Uncomplicated UTIs, sinus infections, cold/flu symptoms, cold sores (herpes labialis), early shingles, seasonal allergies, pink eye, minor skin rashes, ringworm, mild acne, and insect bites.

Sexual & Reproductive Health

STI screening and counseling, uncomplicated yeast infections, and non-controlled birth control refills.

Quest Diagnostics Lab Orders

Routine blood work, lipid panels, HbA1c, metabolic panels, thyroid screening, vitamin levels, and STI panels — sent directly to Quest Diagnostics.

Chronic Condition Support

Ongoing, non-controlled management support for stable hypertension, prediabetes/type 2 diabetes, hypothyroidism, and mild-to-moderate asthma.

What We Cannot Treat

Conditions requiring in-person examination, controlled prescribing, or emergency intervention.

Controlled Medications

Strict prohibition on Schedule II–V drugs, including opioids, ADHD stimulants (Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse), benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan), sleep aids (Ambien), and testosterone or other anabolic steroids.

Emergency Symptoms

Chest pain, shortness of breath, stroke symptoms, severe abdominal pain, uncontrolled bleeding, high fever in infants, loss of consciousness, or major traumatic injuries — call 911 or go to the ER.

Mental Health Crises

Suicidal or homicidal thoughts, or a psychiatric emergency. Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to the nearest ER — this platform is not staffed for crisis response.

In-Person Procedures

Laceration repair/suturing, abscess drainage, splinting or casting, joint injections, biopsies, and other hands-on procedures.

Neonatal & Infant Care (Under 2)

Patients under the age of 2 are not evaluated.

Pregnancy Care

Ayah Health does not provide prenatal or obstetric care.

Virtual Sports Physicals

$40 Flat Fee

A pre-participation physical evaluation (PPE) for student athletes, conducted virtually over video. Dr. Akram covers the cardiac, neurologic, and general history questions required for medical clearance, and issues a clearance form electronically when appropriate.

Book a Sports Physical

Please note: Because this exam is conducted over video rather than in person, it may miss subtle physical findings (such as a faint heart murmur) that a hands-on exam could catch. Please confirm with your school or league that a telehealth-issued clearance form will be accepted before booking.

The $40 clinical fee is separate from the standard PushHealth platform fee.
